About

Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run, 2013

My name is Katie Glynn and I love a good challenge. I graduated OCS (Officer Candidate School) as an Officer in the United States Navy in November 2010. My first and only Duty Station was Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida. This is where God granted me one of His greatest blessings, Grace. Through the years, Grace and I have completed at least one 5K (run/walk) each year of her life. That was a promise I made to her as I was struggling to push the then nine-month old in a non-jogging stroller during our first 5K. “We are doing at least one of these every year so we never feel like mommy feels right now, ever again!”

As a mother, I want to empower my daughter. I want to instill in her the confidence to face challenges, and the grit to complete them. I want her to have an eternal understanding that Anything is Possible! In 2016 I finished my first IRONMAN 70.3, IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead, in West Michigan. I finished with a time of 8:17, which was 13-mins away from not making the cut-off time. After more than eight hours of racing, the BEST sound was at the finish line. To hear my sweet four-year old say, “My Mommy’s an IRONMAN!!!” made that struggle all worthwhile. I’ve since complete IRONMAN 70.3 NC (formerly known as Beach to Battleship) in 2017, with a time of 7:15. Yes, I learned a lot from the first one, and yes, I did improve by 62 minutes. I also completed my first Spartan Race Trifecta in 2017 as well. Like I said, “I love a good challenge.” In 2018 I completed my second Spartan Race Trifecta. On May 5, 2019 I competed in Williamsburg, VA for my third 70.3, with a finish time of 7:29. And Praise God, on Oct 13, 2019 I finished the Louisville IRONMAN 140.6! It was such a relief to cross that finish line and know that all of the hard work and training had paid off.

With all the obstacles that came to light in 2020 with a global pandemic, any organized races were few and far between. I took the year “off” but still had a burning desire to make a difference. You see, when I crossed the finish line in Louisville, that was my kick-off moment. I needed to make it official. Bravo Tango Charlie (Be the Change) is more than a dream. It’s a mindset, and one I plan to keep for a long time! I want to raise awareness and funds for PTSD and support the military veterans and first responders in my community… then my state… then this great country.  It’s been said, “If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.” Here we go!
